About this Talk

Currently, as a result of industrial, mining, municipal, agricultural, and other enterprises; India creates approximately >960 million tonnes of solid garbage per year. Because of advancements in solid waste management; alternative construction materials have arisen as a substitute for traditional materials, viz., bricks, ceramics, cement, lime etc. Also, an acute shortage of natural resources has stimulated the current research scenario to utilise various kinds of alternative raw materials such as coarse and fine aggregates and supplementary cementitious materials. In the talk; the process and methodology for developing different kinds of sustainable building products will be discussed. In addition, cost reduction and natural resource conservation analyses of the developed building products will be presented in order to quantify the environmental (global warming potential and non-renewable energy consumption) and economic benefits of using various wastes.
